Get Ready for Third Grade: Academic Readiness Intensive

A focused, high‑expectations academic bridge for students who are ready to level up — not just pass time.

Third grade is not “just the next grade.” It’s the point where learning expectations shift from learning to read to reading to learn, from basic math skills to multi‑step reasoning, and from guided work to independent performance.

This Academic Readiness Intensive is designed for students who are not failing — but not fully ready either. The students who are in the academic middle, where the right support can change everything.”

Who This Program Is For

This program is a strong fit if your child:

  • Is close — but needs intentional support to succeed.
  • Can read independently but needs stronger fluency, stamina, and comprehension
  • Struggles with word problems and multi‑step thinking
  • Does best with clear expectations, structure, and accountability
  • Thrives when adults treat learning seriously — without chaos or fluff

This program may not be the right fit if you’re looking for a casual, drop‑in summer camp or primarily entertainment‑based learning.

What Makes Third Grade Different (and Why Summer Matters)

By third grade, students are expected to:

  • Read longer, more complex texts independently
  • Write organized paragraphs with complete thoughts
  • Solve multi‑step math problems using reasoning, not guessing
  • Manage assignments with less teacher scaffolding
  • Demonstrate comprehension across science and social studies texts

Students who are unprepared don’t just struggle academically — they often lose confidence early.

This intensive closes the gap before school starts.

What Your Child Will Master

Reading & Language Arts

  • Reading fluency and pacing
  • Vocabulary development using context clues
  • Comprehension strategies for fiction and nonfiction
  • Paragraph structure and written responses
  • Grammar foundations that support clear writing

Math

  • Math fact fluency (addition, subtraction, early multiplication readiness)
  • Multi‑step word problem solving
  • Place value and number sense
  • Explaining math thinking clearly

Learning Skills

  • Academic stamina
  • Following multi‑step directions
  • Independent work habits
  • Confidence answering why, not just what

How the Intensive Works

  • Format: Live virtual instruction + guided practice
  • Schedule: Structured sessions with clear weekly goals
  • Class Size: Small group to ensure accountability
  • Materials: Workbook and guided practice activities
  • Approach: Explicit instruction, modeling, and coached practice

This is not self‑paced. Students are expected to show up, engage, and apply what they learn.

The Philosophy Behind the Program

This program is built on a simple belief:

Children rise to the level of expectation when adults are willing to teach with clarity, structure, and respect for their capability.

No gimmicks. No busywork. Just solid instruction, practiced skills, and honest feedback.

Results Parents Can Expect

  • Stronger reading confidence and comprehension
  • Improved math reasoning and accuracy
  • Increased academic independence
  • Less anxiety about the upcoming school year
  • A child who knows they’re ready for third grade
